Rovberg Bike Maintenance Care Guide
1) Lubricate the drivetrain and keep it clean
On a regular basis, check the entire chain by standing to the side of your bike and lifting the rear wheel off the ground. Use your free hand to slowly rotate the closest pedal, inspecting individual chain links for dirt buildup, rust and or tight links (links that do not bend easily as they pass through the rear derailleur). Check for adequate lubrication by listening for squeaks while riding. If you find either condition, your chain needs at least a spot-cleaning.
Which lubricant should I use?
Dry Ceramic Chain Lube is our recommended lubricant to keep your chain working well. Ceramic Chain Lube has raised the standard of chain lubricants and offers complete rust protection and unparalleled performance in dry, dusty and damp conditions. The added nano ceramic particles and synthetic polymers ensure that Dry Ceramic Chain Lube increases your power output by minimizing friction. It provides up to 10x better lubrication than standard oils.
2) Check your tire pressure regularly
Air seeps out of all tires from as little as a few psi a week. The rate of loss increases with pressure and can also be affected by other factors like lower temperatures (about 2 percent vanishes for each 10-degree dip in Fahrenheit). It is recommended that you check pressure at least once a week. Riding with the wrong pressure can result in punctured tires or harder wearing on the tread, shortening the tire lifespan.
3) Tighten nuts and bolts, don’t overtighten
Bicycles are assembled using many nuts and bolts. It is important to check for loose nuts or bolts on a regular basis. Please note that it is also really important not to over tighten nuts and bolts as this can damage them.
4) check and change brake pads if necessary
Wether you have disc brakes or brake pads it is important to check that the pads are in good condition and not work down too much. Good braking is essential to safety and it is recommended that your brakes and pade are regularly checked and adjusted for effective function.
